ZeroFoil2Landfill Achieved.

One of the first goals we set ourselves as a new company was to achieve ZeroFoil2Landfill status and within just 4 weeks of trading we were very proud to successfully achieve that accreditation.

Foilco were the very first foil company to set up a foil recovery scheme and to be certified as ZeroFoil2Landfill compliant - a scheme backed by the British Printing Industry Federation (BPIF). With our interest in climate change and the way in which we all impact the world around us getting involved in this scheme was a natural first step for us.

From the outset we have worked hard to ensure that there is very little waste in our printing processes and we are committed to ensuring any unavoidable waste is managed in an environmentally sound way. Through our partnership with Foilco and the ZeroFoil2Landfull scheme we have made a commitment to minimising our environmental impact and maximising our sustainability.

Using a specialist waste management company our foil waste is recovered and reused - the thin polyester carrier layer has a high calorific value which means the waste film can be converted to Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) for use by other industries. This helps reduce the use of fossil fuels - with 12 tonnes of polyester film replacing approximately 10 tonnes of fossil fuel.

Our participation in this scheme will see a decrease in our use of UK landfill and the resulting SRF produced by our waste will contribute to a reduced reliance on the burning of fossil fuels.

Achieving this status so early on in this new journey is something the team and I are hugely proud of and we look forward to continuing to explore the ways in which we can make a difference and keep things clean, green and sustainable at CMI Foiling!
